So, I’ve taken a well earned break over the last week. I went to South Devon with my family and I had every intention of working while there, that flew out the window as I was having too much fun enjoying my surroundings, my family and how peaceful everything is away from London.
We stayed in the most perfect three bedroom cottage which was in the middle of what felt like nowhere. This was perfect for us as we didn’t want any city near us, roads going at all hours and a lot of neighbours. The cottage was housed on a nice little road that led onto a huge woodland, surrounded by a maximum of 5 other cottages.
When we arrived we checked ourselves in and explored the house, it was exactly what we had imagined and felt very homely. We then went out into the garden and we were in for a shock. We had read that the garden was big but, it was huge!. I’m talking grass forever, a trampoline, football goal, seating area, chickens, forest and fire pit at the back. Honestly we were so taken back by it’s size and the holiday was already exceeding our expectations.
The surrounding areas of where we stayed were really beautiful too. We have completely fallen in love with Torquay and found ourselves spending a lot of time there. We love the sea, we love boats and it’s a very relaxed and beautiful seaside town. Not only is it beautiful, we found that everything in Torquay seems to be great value for money and we were flabbergasted when we were able to feed 5 of us fish and chips for £20 in one of the freshest and best fish and chip shops I have ever been in. Better yet it was right by the harbour which means we could have beautiful views while we ate.
We not only spent a lot of time wandering around taking in our surroundings, we also did some crabbing which was really fun. The anticipation of waiting for your crab to grab hold of the bait bag created such a buzz, which also made us all quite competitive. The kids loved seeing what the crabs looked like, learning how to pick them up safely and putting them back where they belong, in the sea.
We spent a lot of our week enjoying the beautiful garden, having barbecues and creating a lot of family memories. It was a holiday filled with laughter, smiles and pure happiness. We can’t wait to go back next year.
We did do a few days out while we were there but I am going to post them up tomorrow so this post isn’t too lengthy.
