So in this day and age it’s no secret that we are all accustomed to a selfie or two, particularly when we’re pleased with our make up or outfit. Having said that we all also know what it’s like to be a bit self-conscious from time to time.
I do think it’s a real shame when people shy away from not just the camera, but smiling in general, due to any kind of dental insecurities. There is nothing more endearing or infectious than a big and bright smile.
So with that said I want to enlighten you today with the world of the Invisalign ® treatment. Good enough for Bieber and Gisele and here’s why:
What is Invisalign®?
For those of you who aren’t familiar with the treatment, it would be worth noting that they are a set of clear aligners that have the same function as a brace. They work to straighten any orthodontic imperfections. These include gapped teeth, over-crowded mouths and crooked smiles. Each bespoke pair is moulded to your teeth and they slot over like a retainer but with a lot less discomfort.
How long does it take?
Usually the treatment will take 12 months, but this may vary depending on each individual requirement. The clear aligners are worn for around 22 hours per day, and should be taken off when you’re eating and drinking.
Due to the extra brushing of your teeth when you are receiving the treatment, it has also been proven to aid you with better oral hygiene, and even whiter teeth due to the build-up of toothpaste in the moulds.
So it’s win, win.
Is it like a traditional brace?
No is the shortest and most simple answer to this. Although Invisalign® takes the same principal of traditional braces in its transformative straightening of the teeth, this is the only similarity. Although the aligners are classed as a brace, they are totally different. They are practically invisible due to their transparent material, and mould neatly over your teeth, so the only person aware of their presence is you.
They don’t create the same pain or discomfort as traditional ‘train tracks’ and take less time than traditional braces. This is why they are so popular amongst adults of younger and older generations.
Where can I get this treatment?
Invisalign® has grown to be one of the most popular dental treatments due to its high success rate and unobtrusive solution. With that said, dental practices across the UK will be trained in this, but in particular Ollie & Darsh Liverpool have been awarded Diamond Status Providers.
