I have been decorating for what seems like forever, god knows how long it would have been going on if my place was any bigger. We had all the electrics done just over a year ago, a leak in the toilet wall fixed last year (this meant the whole wall was taken down and put back up!) and then the kitchen cupboards refitted about 6 months ago.
We then started on the front room, wallpapering it plain white so we can add in a pop of colour through items we choose. The hallway and the bedrooms are next on the list of things to do. Panga has visions of having this baby blue room with a silver radiator while I am going for something a little darker and painting a feature wall dark purple.
We are then going to get all our new flooring put down, something I can’t wait for. I am normally a hard wood flooring type of girl but I have fallen in love with some carpets while browsing and have settled on the whole flat being carpeted and then the kitchen, bathroom and toilet will be getting new vinyl flooring.
I have such a small space in my front room which I am trying to utilise to my best ability. It has to be a living area and a dining area for us.
I am in love with corner sofas and I feel like they completely open up the space, plus its a great way to have quite a large seating space without losing any of the room. We already have one but its a little old and we are looking for one that is perfect for the movie nights we love having.
Because space is such an issue I am all about storage, so something like a chest in the front room is something I definitely need. I can hide an array of different things in there while keeping the rest of the place in order. Chuck a couple of cushions on the top too and it works as a great little seating area too, which means when guests come around there’s always somewhere for someone to sit.
My front room is quite plain so I am also loving the idea of a wall clock with a quote attached to it, I think it gives a great little focal point and adds something a little different to the room.
Tapanga and I have both been looking at tons of bedroom furniture because we have decided to be out with the old and in with the new. We have both fallen in love with the type of draws above which means in true matching mother and daughter style, both our rooms are going to be decked out in them.
Like I said before Tapanga is going with a blue theme for her room and I a purple one. She wants beanbag chairs, a television on the wall with a music system sitting proudly on top of her draws. While I have a TV bed which obviously has everything I need enclosed in it, I don’t want anything on my walls and to keep everything else very minimal. The only thing I need is loads of storage space for all the clothes and make up I have built up over the years.
I have found most of the things I want to buy on the Lions Home website which I have found quite useful as they have everything you need in one place, you can also search out the best priced items through them and be able to decorate or even add a few key pieces to your home without having to search every website out there.
