I’m all about that base, no I’m not talking about the catchy Meghan Trainer song, but in fact my make up. I believe that after having a great skincare routine so your skin is in the best possible condition it can be in the next best thing to have is a great base, it’s the foundation for laying the rest of your make up and you want to keep it looking as flawless as possible.
I have tried numerous different foundations from creams, powders, mousse’s and liquids in my quest to find the perfect finish. I like my base to look like skin, my skin but better and I like a full coverage foundation as I have some severe issues that I like to cover up without caking on loads of concealer… It’s a pretty heavy ask when looking for a foundation.
My go to ‘drugstore’ base product has been the L’Oreal Infallible Foundation, which I have loved since it first arrived on the scene. It gives me the coverage I need and almost the finish I want, its a beautiful foundation that blends in seemlessly and for once it’s a foundation I can pick up from Superdrug that actually matches my colouring.
Now, I was having a conversation with my friend and she said that she had seen somewhere that adding a drop of facial oil to your foundation actually gives you a flawless base and what with me being a beauty blogger had I heard or tried it, I looked at her with a blank expression and thought she was mad for even suggesting it. I couldn’t shake it and when I got home I googled it, I then came across a video by Wayne Goss suggesting the same thing.
The next time I applied my foundation I tried adding a drop of facial oil to it and I was shocked by how it changed the texture, it was still the same coverage but it somehow made the foundation become one with my skin. I looked absolutely flawless and I actually couldn’t believe that I had been sitting on the answer to my ideal base this whole time. It doesn’t leave you looking oily, it doesn’t create an oily t-zone and it doesn’t make your foundation wear off quicker than usual, well that’s what I have found when using the L’Oreal Infallible.
