Lets just take a moment to bask in the beauty that is Tom Ford Alejandro Lipstick, it is beautiful, right?. Well if you have seen my Selfridges Haul you will know that this little bugger costs an arm and a leg, yes, he is not cheap coming in at a whopping £27. I know you’re probably thinking that’s not too bad for a high-end lipstick and you’ve probably spent that much on one before, especially if you’re a lipstick lover like myself because I know I have spent upwards of £25 on a lipstick. Now, before I get into how I feel about the lipstick itself let me tell you that this is my first ever Tom Ford lipstick and I bought it online from seeing swatches…. This is the tiniest lipstick I own, the actual tube is the size of my little finger, the lipstick itself is just about a third of the size of my little finger. When I saw it I was in utter shock and I actually didn’t want to use it for fear it would break.
After getting over my initial shock I thought I am going to have to use it, I own it and it cost near on thirty quid so I’m not going to let it sit looking pretty. Once I applied it to my lips I instantly knew why it had the price tag it has, it was smooth and creamy with such a luxurious colour. It glided on effortlessly and left a beautiful sheen with a hint of sparkle that lasted for hours. Although the colour lasts for hours it does wear off in the centre when you are talking a lot or eating and drinking, meaning you need to top up quite regularly unless you don’t talk the hind legs off a donkey like I do then you should be fine.
After using it a good few times I come to find it wasn’t as smooth as I originally thought and found a few random strays of rather large gold glitter that I have not been too fond of, this hasn’t put me off using the lipstick because it is an utterly beautiful colour and I want to get my money’s worth out of it. I just wouldn’t re-buy this particular one or one from the Deep Reds collection that this was part of, next time I might try one from the main line and one with no shimmer in as the underlying formula is actually beautiful.
Tom Ford Alejandro can be purchased at Selfridges for £27
