Random acts of kindness are something that I truly believe in doing. I love making people feel better, cheerful and like they have a sense of worth. Simple little gestures can really help spread some love, positivity and cheer. It’s even nicer at this time of year when everyone is getting into the Christmas spirit, I mean it is the season of giving after all.
I’ve taken part in a few random acts of kindness from paying for someones shopping in a supermarket when they didn’t have enough money to pay their bill to sending people random gifts throughout the year to just cheer them up.
A random act of kindness doesn’t have to always be something that you pay for, it can just be a simple kind gesture. Something like giving your seat to someone, babysitting for a friend or family member out of the blue so they can have a much needed day or night of relaxation, baking a cake or cookies and giving them as a gift. All these things are simple yet effective.
I’m a true believer in if you give out kindness and good cheer you will always receive it back. Like I have said there have been many times when I have taken part in a random act of kindness, through this I have felt I have definitely been paid back through the kindness of strangers too.
I have had a person in a queue of a theme park give my daughter free entry as they had a spare ticket, I have also had someone do the same at another amusement place. I had someone pay for my bus fare when my oyster card wouldn’t scan, my coffee bought for me in a coffee shop and other random acts of kindness.
This year I am still taking part in random acts of kindness as well as going out of my way to find ways of being kind too. A couple of the things I am doing this year is giving to charity – A good one to donate to is Oxfam and I am also buying a gift for a child in need to make sure they will get at least something nice this Christmas.
Like I said, being kind isn’t just about spending loads of money it’s about bringing joy and happiness to someone else. Normally it creates a chain of kindness because they will pay it forward onto the next person and so on.
As people I think kindness is the best trait someone can have.
