When I think about my friendships I count myself lucky that I can surround myself with people as amazing as them. I have friends from all different walks of life, friends that live up and down the country and friends I have known my whole entire life. Some of the people in my life who mean the most to me I have met in conventional and unconventional ways.
My Longest Friend
I met my longest friend when I was a little girl and our friendship has spanned over 25 years and is still going strong now. I remember our first ever encounter, I was sitting outside my house and this little girl came up to me. I was a very spoilt little girl and I didn’t do sharing but, she came up to me and wanted to share her toys. Little did I know how much of an impact that one small act of kindness would have on my life.
She has become the person who I have shared my entire life with. We attended primary school together, were devastated when we went to different secondary schools, saw each other through heartbreaks over our teen crushes, watched each other become the women and mothers we are today. We still laugh like we are ten years old whenever we are together and I couldn’t be without her in my life.
My College Friend
When I went to college I was so scared. I was a new mum, a teenager and I wanted to better my life. On my first day of induction I was thrown into a room with a bunch of other people and I was so out of my comfort zone. Along came Emma and she made me feel like everything was going to be okay.
We sparked a friendship of our love of music, food and eventually wine.
She has been the person who has always been there to take my mind of anything, she is loyal and a friend that everyone deserves to have. We can not see or speak to each other for months but as soon as we do it’s like no time has ever passed. It’s been 12 years since we met and I am so happy that I walked into college that day and met her.
My Best Friend
My best friend is the person I love more than anyone in the whole wide world, some of you might know her as Glam Glitz Gloss, where as I know her as the other half of Chanya – Tanya! She is the most fierce, loyal and trustworthy person I have ever met and I wouldn’t change a thing about her.
She keeps me on my toes, always has my best intentions at heart and will always fight any battle I’m going through with me. She’s the type of friend where there’s no questions asked, an if you’re in, I’m in type of friend.
I met Tanya when I started blogging. We used to speak on twitter and eventually met each other at an event. After that the rest is history.
We have been on holiday several times together and have just generally shared our lives wholeheartedly since that first meeting. She is and forever shall be my person.
The one who’s like my sister
Alex is one of those people who walk into a room and makes everyone feel comfortable. She is ditzy, caring, charismatic and so unapologetically herself. She is one of the greatest people to ever have as a friend.
She will always be there to comfort you when your down, cheer you on in anything you want to do and give you the full support you need to feel like you can fulfil anything.
We met at work, she was a few years younger than me and we just seemed to gravitate towards each other. We were so happy that we had the same shifts and got to hang out almost every day while working away. Our friendship grew so strong to the point where we can’t live without the other. We love each others children like they’re our own and I couldn’t think of anyone better to be a positive role model in my daughters life.
The One Who I Met On An App
Yep, you read that right! One of my friends that I talk to every day, have loads of laughs with and would class as one of my favourite people I met on an app.
It’s such an unconventional way to meet a friend because you think of apps to be more for dating but they can be used for so much more than swiping left or right.
Apps like Pal which has just launched can help you find connections close to where you live. You can search through activities and connect that way. Chat can be in groups or one on one, so it’s up to you really to make the connections that suit your lifestyle.
Apps like Pal are great for meeting new friends as the people who are on there are searching for exactly the same thing, a friend. With how fast lives move now days sometimes it can be hard to put yourself out there, find something new to do and meet new people. With solutions like this you can easily connect with like minded people.
Have you met any of your friends in an unconventional way? Would you use an app like Pal?
