I moved to where I live now just over 10 years ago. When I first moved here I didn’t really want to, it was a place I didn’t know and it was just out the way of everything I knew.
Over the years I have grown to love where I live so much. It’s a vibrant up and coming area with local hidden treasures. Not only does it have great transport links, it’s also close enough to so many things that are within walking distance.
My flat that I live in has great views. One side I get the Shard, Canary Warf and the Crystal Palace Tower and on the other I get Big Ben, The London Eye and St Pauls Cathedral. Not only are the views great, I also live overlooking a gorgeous park in the heart of Kennington. It’s so nice to have a green space like that in the hustle and bustle of London.
I live in between both Kennington and Oval tube stations which means I can get just about anywhere. It’s also nice as we have the cricket grounds close, a local farmers market, local city farms within walking distance and a host of museums a walk or a tube/bus ride away.
Kenninton and Oval has a great diverse range of restaurants and bars that help to keep the area flowing with new and exciting people, it’s great for catching up with friend’s and because it’s just on the outskirts of Central London so prices are still on the lower end.
Because Kennington is up and coming and just on the cusp of Central London house prices are still quite reasonable, so a place like this is the perfect place to buy a home. Slater and Gordon can offer great Real Estate advice for anyone looking to buy, making buying a property as stress free as possible.
Not only does it have all of the above it is a very family orientated area too. We participate in loads of free community fun days where they have rides, workshops and lots of activities for children. The most recent was a Halloween/Firework Night one where all the kids got to take part in getting their faces painted, making theme appropriate crafts and treasure hunts. There is also lots of adventure playgrounds and youth centres which I think are great, my daughter loves going to them and I know that she is safe and doing something productive with her time.
I’m really proud to live where I live and totally love the area. With a diverse culture, lots of community spirit and a great social scene it really is the perfect place to live.
