I think its safe to say we are finally in hay fever season, the sun is shining, birds are singing and the flowers are blooming. It actually makes me really happy when the weather is like this but one thing I hate is the constant itchy watery eyes, sniffles and sneezing that comes along with it. I constantly have to keep my hay fever medication and eye drops with me for quick relief on the go.
One thing I am always looking for is relief for my itchy eyes, if you’re a fellow sufferer you will know how annoying it is when it feels like your eyes are dry and scratchy but there’s a constant river flowing from them. Also being the massive beauty lover that I am it’s not a good look when you have make up running down your face because the seasons are against you.
Something new I have been trying is the Optrex ActiMist 2 in 1 Eye Spray for Itchy & Watery Eyes*, it’s been formulated to help relieve itchy and watery eyes when the lipid layer of the eyes tear film has been disturbed, this can be caused by pollen allergies as well as many other things. Optrex ActiMist is a handy little product because it is used up to four times a day to really help you repair your eyes natural protective moisture barrier, this means that it really helps to reduce moisture loss and stops that itchy dry feeling.
Now, the Optrex ActiMist claims it is make up friendly and provides relief for up to four hours so I obviously had to put it to the test. I was having a serious hay fever attack day and knew that it was the day to crack it out, I sprayed it on as directed and if I’m honest I hated this part because it felt like it was all over my face, I also didn’t understand how it worked exactly as you spray it on to closed eyes. It dried fairly quickly and I got over the fact moments ago it felt like I had sprayed water all over myself, I had however got some on my lips which I could taste and I can tell you now it wasn’t pleasant.
It did however instantly take away the dry itchy feeling from my eyes making them feel instantly comfortable and it lasted a good few hours before it started feeling like I needed to use it again. My make up also stayed in pristine condition the whole way throughout using, no smudged mascara, no speckled foundation and no worn off eyeshadow! So I definitely give this a big thumbs up and am keeping a bottle in my bag for those times when hay fever symptoms hit. The bottle also lasts for 6 months from opening so you know your bottle is going to last you a while.
You can pick up the Optrex ActiMist 2 in 1 Eye Spray for Itchy and Watery Eyes at Boots, Superdrug and all other good retailers for £15.31.
