I am a hairstyling tool fanatic, I am ashamed to admit I have a draw and a big metal box full of them from hairdryers, wavers, curlers and straighteners, not to mention everything in between… I just can’t get enough! So when I had the chance to review the InStyler I jumped at the chance because I had read and seen rave reviews of it on blogs and YouTube.
Just quickly before anyone comments that I’ve died my hair bright blonde, I haven’t I used my sister as she has easier to photograph hair and Rapunzel locks…
OK so the thing I was most excited about with the InStyler has to be the colour, I am a purple fanatic and this was right up my street. I love it when styling tools are a different colour or have a nice design on them because I am sick of the same old black or white tools.
The InStyler has three different heat settings which are low, medium and high so cater for fine medium and thick hair so you know your hair wont be getting unnecessary damage from the heat by just having a static one heat setting. It works by the barrel rotating to straighten the hair with the bristles on the brush first making sure that the hair is separated and the set after making sure it is smooth with added shine. You can also use it for creating volume, flicks and curls by using it at different angles or wrapping the hair around the barrel.
As you can see in the above before and after picture of my sisters hair it definitely smooths and straightens just like a normal straightener, granted it does take a bit longer but for me I feel like it gives the effect of a really smooth blowdry as there’s still so much movement and body left in the hair.
Overall I really like the InStyler but I don’t think I will be hanging up my straighteners or curlers altogether as I like the different looks you can get with them but it is a handy versatile tool and if you wanted to save money by having just one tool that does it all in one instead of forking out on several different stylers this could be for you.
