As many of you know I have been on a serious little health kick for the last few months, I have been wanting to just live a better life but not just from getting myself healthy but from also getting my surroundings healthy, I thought maybe a few of these could help you guys too.
Little Tips For A Healthier Home
When we think of keeping ourselves healthy, we think of healthy diet, taking vitamins and regular exercise. Yet we fail to recognise the fact that the home is where our health and our wellbeing starts. We never think about things like dust mites – the microscopic creatures that you cannot see but are present in almost every home, or keeping damp and bacteria at bay.
Get a dehumidifier
Dust mites, like most living things, prefer warm, humid environments in which to breed and thrive. A dehumidifier can bring down the humidity in a room to around 30%, which is far less likely to allow dust mites to breed and will help to keep the levels down. A dehumidifier is better for breathing than air conditioning as too. Keeping damp at bay will make a huge difference.
Although it is simply better not to have carpets at all, if you rent your property then it may not be your choice to have carpeting. Carpets are a breeding ground for dust mites and other allergens, and the best way to stop these multiplying is to vacuum at least twice a week, thoroughly.
Get a humidifier
Sleeping with a humidifier is meant to do wonders for your skin – turn it on during the night and wake up with dewy, moist skin!
Give pets regular baths
Make sure that any pets receive regular flea treatments and have regular baths which will help to prevent their skin and hair from causing problems. If you do have pets you should be even more vigilant about washing and vacuuming in the home, as they contribute to the problem just as much as the humans in your house do.
Keep the room ventilated
Fresh oxygen makes us feel more alert, energised and gets rid of stagnant air, making your home fragrant and airy. So throw open the windows and make your home your own perfect, healthy oasis.
