When I moved into my flat 8 years ago it was an absolute mess as the previous tenants had painted it such garish colours, I’m talking a hot pink toilet, one bright orange bedroom and a red and black theme in the other. I wouldn’t of been too bothered by this but they had also painted the ceilings which meant as we were on quite a tight schedule to move in we had to do a quick paint job in order to move in with hopes to decorate soon after. Once we had moved in we were told by the council that essential works had to be carried out over the course of the year which meant they would rip out the kitchen, bathroom and some of the walls to place new electrics so we decided to wait until after this was done to finally decorate… Fast forward 8 years and they are finally doing the works which means I can finally make my flat a home and decorate it exactly how I want it.
We have decided to start with the bedrooms first as they are the places that both Tapanga and I spend most of our time, although I am hoping to move swiftly onto the living room once I have finished with them.
I’m a great lover of purple with every bedroom I have ever lived in being painted in some form of the colour. Now I have grown up I’ve decided that I want to have my bedroom a crisp white with a feature wall of deep purple where I can pull in the colour around the room with pillows and throws while having lovely little trinket boxes to store my possessions in. I’ve also been craving a big metal bed so I can wrap fairy lights all around it to feel like I’m sleeping with the stars.
Tapanga is a full on girly girl who has so many ideas on how she wants her bedroom with a princess bed and fairy lights being a must plus it should all be in her favourite colour – PINK!. She has also decided she wants to be just like me with having all her walls painted white with just the one wall being pink although she hasn’t quite settled on exacted what shade she wants just yet.
I couldn’t tell you how happy I am to finally feel like I can start getting my home in order especially as it feels long overdue!
